Ask Officer Michelle – Question #91

Posted by xwingo
I was wondering if you have “civil stand-by’s” in Sac. city? My husband wants to go and tell this guy to leave, but a friend of ours who is a Police officer in C.C. County says we should inquire about this with you….

Dear xwingo,
We do not provide civil stand-by’s (where an officers stands by and waits in certain circumstances) as a general rule, nor does the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department. The only exception for SacPD would be in a domestic violence type of situation where the probability of police intervention is imminent.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department does provide such services county-wide related to civil situations where a court judgment has been issued (such as evictions).  This link provides more information:

Good luck,
Officer Michelle
