Downtown Sexual Assault

The Sacramento Police Department wants to make the public aware of a sexual assault that occurred on April 16, 2008, at 12:30 a.m. The victim had just exited the 15th Street light rail station and began walking east on R Street. She went to the alley between 17th and 18th Streets where she was grabbed by an unknown male. The male sexually assaulted the victim in the alley. The suspect has been described as being 5’7”- 6’0”, with a very deep voice. He was wearing a black hoodie, which was cinched tight, and black pants.  Although no knife was seen, the suspect threatened that he had a knife and that he would use it if she didn’t cooperate.

Anyone with information pertaining to this assault is urged to contact CRIME ALERT at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.

In light of this recent sexual assault, the Sacramento Police Department is going to re-run a five-part series on rape and sexual assault prevention.  Part I of the series begins at the bottom portion of the “Fight or Flight?” story. Click here to begin: http://blog.sacpd.org/?p=72
