Ask Officer Michelle – Question #497
Posted by Angela
I would like to know what options I have. I live in a apartment complex and my son’s room wall is adjoined to the laundromat. Teenagers come into the laundromat, after hours, without a key through the window to argue, play and roughhouse constantly and purposely banging up against the walls. Am I able to call the non emergency police number to have a officer cite the teens? Or am I able to call and have a officer get there names and apartment numbers so I can turn it into the apartment complex manager?
I look forward to your response.
Thank You
Angela
Dear Angela,
Your best option would to discuss this issue with your landlord. That being said, if you suspect that there is a fight, or that someone is getting hurt, you can call the police. If you suspect these teens are involved in any other type of illegal activity, you can call the police for that as well. Otherwise, contact your on-site manager or the landlord for a more long-term solution. Good luck!
