Hello Officer Michelle,

I would like to ask you would if it is possible to join SaPD as I currently live in Portsmouth England?
I am coming to the end of a 22 year career in the Royal Navy and My daughter and I wish to relocate to Sacremento.

Dear Mark,

First things first, becoming a police officer in the United States requires that you be a U.S. citizen.  If you are not presently a citizen then you’ll need to complete that task first.  However, if citizenship is not an issue, please visit our website at www.sacpd.org/inside/academy  for details and answers to frequently asked questions about the POST Basic Non-Affiliate Academy and getting started on the road to becoming a police officer. 

We presently are in a hiring freeze and have no jobs to offer after the academy.  However, some agencies are starting to hire again.  Check out the CA POST website at www.post.ca.gov/law-enforcement-jobs.aspx  to see who is hiring.
