The house next to me is growin pot in their back yard, How do I know if this is legel or not?

There has been a shroud of smoke (pardon the pun) surrounding marijuana laws in the past two years. Some cities and states tried to legalize it only to be trumped by federal law. Sacramento allows people with medicinal marijuana cards to possess marijuana for personal medical use only.
If the marijuana grow is small and appears to be for personal use, and the resident has a medicinal marijuana card to grow, the District Attorney won’t file on these types of cases.
With this being said, if the grow is a substantial amount of plants, accompanied by packaging materials, scales, and other indicia indicative of sales of marijuana, then our detectives division may be interested. You can call our narcotics tip line at 916-808-5796. It is a really hazy area right now (I did the pun thing again), but until now, this is the law enforcement stance on this issue.
