Ask A Recruiter – Question #225

Posted by DC

I recently got out of the Military and want to become a Police officer after serving as a MP for 6 years. I took the PELLET-B test and passed. I also was on the Sac PD website and noticed that applications for a non-affiliated academy are due by October 31st. I filled out all documents and mailed in my application. My questions is does this get processed when Sac PD receives it or after the close date? Also is this application deadline for the Academy in Jan? Finally if I was accepted when would I find out in regards to the start date of the Police Academy. Any help would be great. Thank you for your time.

Daniel

Dear Daniel,

Starting in the middle of October, those individuals whose applications have been received by the Academy staff will be notified of the date and time of their interview.  The interviews will probably take place about a week after the closing date of the applications.  These applications are for the Non-Affiliate Academy positions.  The applications are not handled by the City of Sacramento or by the Police Department.  They are handled specifically by the Academy.  The applications we
are currently accepting are for the Academy that begins on January 7.

If you are accepted to attend the Academy, you will find out within a week or two of the interview date.  Orientation will be held for the January Academy in the beginning of December.

Thank you for your post,

Sacramento Police Academy
