Ask A Recruiter – Question #234

Posted by tluttrullaf

Hi, I am currently active duty Air Force and getting my degree in criminal justice. My question is that I’m looking at a medical board on my wrist for pain. It’s not major but I can’t do my logistics job currently that requires heavy lifting. I was wondering if I get the med discharge will I still be able to complete my degree and become a police officer in Sacramento or is the med discharge a disqualifying factor for being a cop?

Dear tluttrullaf

The medical discharge is not a disqualifying factor for Sac PD… Basically, when you get to the medical evaluation, it’s done by a City doctor. If there are any issues with your medical report it is sent to Risk Management.

Thank you for writing.
