Ask Officer Michelle – Question #561

Posted by andeeve

My neighbors tend to have people over after the clubs close. They hang out on the patio next to my bedroom window and talk and laugh loudly. I have walked over and asked them to calm down or take it inside, but they keep migrating outside. How do I get an officer to stop by and break up the party or have them be more considerate of the neighbors after hours, because they won’t listen to me…

Dear andeeve,

The Sacramento Police Department still responds to noise complaints. Call the non-emergency number, 916-264-5471. It is a lower priority call and officers will respond to higher priority calls first, but we will still respond. You can remain anonymous. Just tell the dispatcher that you don’t want police to contact you. If you want a longer term solution, you can sign a citizen’s arrest and the violators will be cited. Either way, we will talk to the people responsible for the noise violation. Take care.

Officer Michelle
