Ask Officer Michelle – Question #332

Posted by daveehl

Last night (1/18/10), we saw several police cars chasing someone in the area of Riverside & Florin Rd.  A helicopter circled in two different areas for quite a while, telling someone to come out with their hands up, or something like that.  Some friends and neighbors told us that a house was robbed and that the chase went around the neighborhood.  With all that excitement, there was no mention of it in the "Daily Activity" or "Helicopter Activity" sections of this website.  We have come to depend on this website to learn what’s happening in the neighborhood.  Was last night’s excitement not significant enough to mention?

Dear daveehl,

Thank you for writing in about the activity in the Riverside Blvd. and Florin Rd. area on the night of January 18.  The activity involved two calls that came in around the same time from the same street.  In one case a resident thought she heard someone in her garage so she called the police. In the second case, the former residents of a foreclosed home came back to the house perhaps to retrieve belongings and set off the alarm since the house was locked.  The helicopter responded along with patrol cars, however due to a technical problem over the weekend with the system that pushes helicopter calls out to the website, this activity did not show up. We normally try to update the website when this happened, but it is after the fact.

I hope that answers your questions.

Officer Michelle
