Thanks very much for the reply. I purchased ammunition for the first time in the city limits and as a upstanding Sacramento City citizen burdened with this extra step of fingerprinting, Its important to know that not all for nothing and its helping keep ammunition out of the hands of ineligibles.

Daniel,
The Sacramento Police Academy will once again offer the POST Assessment Test (Pellet B) for candidates applying to the POST Basic Non-affiliate Academy. Space is limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis. The next test is scheduled for May 12, 2012. 60 applicants will be accepted for this test which will be held at the Northern California Regional Public Safety Training Center, 2409 Dean Street, Suite 144 McClellan, CA 95652. Visit the following link to apply: http://www.eventbrite.com/org/2201748101?ref=eorgbtn

In the future it is anticipated the Sacramento Police Academy will offer this test again at a rate of two or three times a year. If taking the test in Sacramento is not an option, the test will continue to be administered weekly at the South Bay Academy in San Jose, CA. The link to that academy is: www.theacademy.ca.gov/tests.

In regards to the previously asked question and answer.

Is San Jose Regional Training Academy the only place to get the test done as of 4-13-2012? Nothing in the Sacramento Area?

Thank you.

The curtilage of one's private property which includes one's front yard, back yard and driveway are considered by the California courts to be "public places" as far as enforcement of firearms laws are concerned.

If your private property is not completely enclosed by a fence sufficiently tall enough to obstruct members of the public from entering your private property, you can not openly carry a handgun on your property.

The barrier to the public can simply be a wrought iron fence 4 1/2 feet or taller in length. It does not matter if the public can see one openly carrying an unloaded firearm, the courts require instead that there be a significant barrier to entry of the property.

Similarly, one must also be extra careful if he lives or is located within 1,000 feet of a K-12 public or private school. An RV or Camper, even in one's driveway is considered to be a "public place". Firearms must be unloaded and in locked containers at all times when within 1,000 feet of a K-12 public or private school. Even after school hours , on holidays and on weekends.

Got a call back from a very nice woman at the court today who was able to change the code for me. It was improperly entered into the system. I was able to pay the ticket over the phone.

Thanks Officer,

When contacting Sac Court be prepared to get hung up on if you are on hold and the clock strikes noon. Lunch for court clerks is from 12:00 to 1:30.

The clerk I spoke with was very positive that according to Municipal Court Code 9.04.055 SCC the charge is in fact a Misdemeanor. After asking if she could tell me why their codes are different from the police I was told "Go look it up in your local law library."

Her advice was to contact the Sacramento Police and have them ammend the ticket. Is something like this possible?

At this point she became very upset with me asking questions. I asked to speak with a superior and was again connected to her superior answering machine. I left a message.

As of now, I plan on going to court next week. I just want this behind me.

If a recovered vehicle is driveable, it is the general practice of Sac PD to try to reach the owner. Not every agency will necessarily do this. It is a customer service we try to provide. Sometimes we aren't successful in reaching people especially when it's the middle of the night or we don't have a good number. Remember too, a vehicle may be stolen in the city, but recovered by different agency.
